Pundit explains why Arsenal should sign 26-year-old attacker

Kasey Keller has claimed that Arsenal signing Riyad Mahrez would be a summer transfer that makes sense.

The Algeria international has been regularly linked with a move to the north London club since the attacking midfielder inspired Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2016.

Mahrez opted to commit his future to the Foxes following their title success but the African star struggled to maintain his performance level which has led to talk of a Summer move.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remained coy when quizzed about the 26-year-old earlier this summer as speculation began to mount that a transfer could be on the cards.

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Keller believes Mahrez moving to Arsenal would be a logical Summer Transfer.

“I think Mahrez makes sense (for Arsenal),” Keller told ESPN FC on Wednesday.

“I think he needs to leave Leicester. He needs that challenge. Arsenal need to sign a couple of more players.”

Mahrez scored 17 times and made 11 assists in Leicester’s title-winning campaign as the Algerian playmaker was named the PFA player of the year in 2016.

Arsenal have already spent a club-record £52m fee on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have also brought in Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a summer transfer deal from Schalke 04.
