Paul Merson is tipping Manchester United to ease to a 2-0 win against Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have bolstered their chances of finishing in the top four in recent weeks amid competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Mourinho’s side are battling on two fronts after Manchester United set up a clash against La Liga side Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-final next month.

Manchester United are looking to improve on a fifth-placed finish in the 2015-16 under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester United’s home clash against struggling Swansea City, former Arsenal midfielder Merson said: “It could go the other way and if they win, United will have a good chance of finishing in the top four and they’ll go full strength against the Swans.

“In that scenario I see a comfortable 2-0 win for the hosts at Old Trafford.”

Manchester United appointed Mourinho as their new manager after Van Gaal failed to secure the Red Devils’ place in the Champions League spots.

The 20-time English champions spent heavily on new players in the summer transfer window following Mourinho’s appointment.
