Lee Dixon lavished praise on Marcus Rashford for a selfless performance in 10-man Manchester United’s goalless draw with Manchester City in Thursday night’s derby clash.
The England international was handed a starting spot in the absence of injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic as Jose Mourinho’s side looked to keep their slim top-four hopes alive.
Rashford had limited chances to test Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo as the Red Devils spent most of the 90 minutes defending David De Gea’s goal at The Etihad.
The Manchester United teenager was taken off in the closing moments of the derby after defensive midfielder Marouane Fellaini was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Former Arsenal defender Dixon heaped praise on Rashford his dogged performance against Manchester City.
“He has had a good game,” Dixon told NBC.
“He has tried to make those runs in behind. He hasn’t got the service he would have liked. The second half has been all hands on deck defensively.”
