Mauricio Pochettino sends message to Chelsea after Tottenham win

Mauricio Pochettino has questioned whether Chelsea will be able to withstand the pressure when they take on Manchester United on Sunday after Tottenham closed the gap to the leaders down to just four points.

Pochettino watched his Tottenham side secure a thumping 4-0 win over Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon to crank up the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table.

The Blues are now gearing up for their crunch showdown with Manchester United at Old Trafford as they look to beat the Red Devils for the third time this season.

And Pochettino has admitted that he would be thrilled to see Manchester United beat Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

“We got the three points and now the pressure is on Chelsea to win in Old Trafford,” Pochettino told his post-match news conference on Saturday.

“It would be fantastic if tomorrow night, after the game, the gap is still four points.

“Four points is still a lot. If they don’t get the win tomorrow we’ll see. they’re still the favourites to win the Premier League.

“We are fighting to be there, for the top four. For the second consecutive season we are there and I think it is fantastic for the players.”

Chelsea have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title this season thanks to their brilliant form under new boss Antonio Conte.

The Blues have twice beaten Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this season, once in the Premier League and again in the FA Cup quarter-finals last month.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are sixth in the Premier League table heading into Sunday’s showdown.
