Antonio Conte has warned his Chelsea team that they are set for a stern test of their title credentials when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Blues head into the game looking to take another step towards winning the title, with Conte’s men currently flying high at the top of the table.

Chelsea have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title this season thanks to their brilliant form under new manager Conte.

It is all a far cry from their struggles last season, when they ended up in 10th place and without a trophy.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League this season and are currently in fifth place as they chase a top-four finish in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge.

The Red Devils have already been beaten twice by Chelsea this season at Stamford Bridge, in the Premier League and FA Cup, but Conte knows that a difficult test awaits them on Sunday.

“My expectation is there will be a tough game,” Conte told a news conference at Cobham on Friday.

“But when I think about a tough game I involve the tactical aspect, the physical aspect and the mental aspect, not only one aspect.

“It is not right to talk about only one of these aspects because there will be many great players with great technique but you know that only technique is not enough. You must have a good impact physically, tactically and also with the right mentality.”
