Neville delivers blunt verdict on Pogba’s performances for Man United

Phil Neville has claimed that Paul Pogba is failing to live up to his huge price tag following his transfer to Manchester United from Juventus last summer.

The French midfielder returned to Old Trafford from Juventus last summer for a world-record transfer fee but is yet to properly find his best form under Jose Mourinho.

Pogba was unable to prevent Manchester United from being knocked out of the FA Cup on Monday night as the Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

And former Manchester United defender Neville says he wants to see Pogba step his game up in the closing stages of the season and perform on the big stage.

Speaking to BBC Sport before Monday’s game, Neville said: “I don’t think he has lived up to his price tag.

“I think where he’s let himself down is in the big games. We’ve seen glimpses but he’s not grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck.”

Pogba will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Europa League action on Thursday night against FC Rostov.

The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
