Paul Merson states prediction for Chelsea v Hull City

Paul Merson is confident that Chelsea will ease to victory over a resurgent Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Questions were asked of the Premier League leaders after their 2-0 loss to title Rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane earlier this month following goals either side of half-time from Dele Alli.

Chelsea were 3-0 winners against defending Premier League champions Leicester City at King Power Stadium last weekend after goals from Marcos Alonso and Pedro Rodriguez.

The west London side eased past Leicester despite the absence of Spain international Diego Costa due to a back injury.

The 28-year-old centre-forward is expected to return to first-team action this weekend as he looks to add to his 14 Premier League goals.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is tipping Chelsea to secure three points with a comfortable win over Hull.

“On paper it’s an easy game for Chelsea. Like Liverpool and Arsenal I expect a comfortable afternoon for the Blues and that’s why it puts so much pressure on Man City’s clash with Tottenham,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“City have to win because I expect Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea to get all three points. If City don’t win and all the teams around them do, they’ll be cut adrift. Whatever happens, it’ll be three points at Stamford Bridge for Antonio Conte’s side.”
