Wes Brown: What I really think about Marcos Alonso at Chelsea

Wes Brom has admitted that he is a keen admirer of Marcos Alonso and the impact that he has had at Chelsea this season.

The Spaniard was brought to Stamford Bridge by Antonio Conte in the closing stages of the summer transfer window as one of the new Chelsea boss’ first signings at the club.

Alonso has proved to be a top addition and has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea team this season to help the Blues to the top of the Premier League table.

The defender scored twice in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night as Conte’s men returned to winning ways in the top flight.

And former Manchester United man Brown has been very impressed by the significant impact Alonso has had at Stamford Bridge this season following his arrival from Fiorentina.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News HQ, Brown said: “He is very good on the ball. He is big and strong. He can cross the ball. He picks out passes and he can shoot.

“Antonio Conte has helped Marcos Alonso with his positioning and his defensive side. I thought he was a really good player when he played left-back at Sunderland.
