The 49ers were quiet to start the legal tampering period of free agency. While the day went on the 49ers lost both Laken Tomlinson and DJ Jones to free agency.

Reports were that the 49ers would make a run at one of the top DB’s on the market and by days end they made a little splash by signing Chiefs DB Charvarius Ward.

The best guess is that Ward will start opposite Moseley, and second year man Ambry Thomas in the slot. The signing of Ward most likely means that the 49ers have moved on from Jason Verrett.

Now we wait to see what other pieces the 49ers add to the roster.
