The big news out of the world of sports today is about the Boston Red Sox, and today it isn't about their 2-9 start. They have signed Adrian Gonzalez to a hefty 7 year, 154 million dollar deal today. That is alot of money. And he is definitely a good player. But how much is too much? With possible lockouts in the other two big sports, I honestly don't think anyone is worth that much money.

Another thing: Why now?

The Boston Red Sox are 2-9. Gonzalez is batting .268 through 11 games, has 1HR and 8 RBI. These arent bad numbers for only 11 games into the season. But is this wirth 154 million dollars? In your Guru's humble opinion, not a chance.

What has he done to prove he is worth this much? Lose games? I know that one person doesn't win games, but he is not doing a whole lot. He is 5th on the team in batting average. This coming from the guy who was supposed to carry the team. He maybe should get a good deal. But I don't think that this is the amount or the time to re-structure his deal.

Red Sox Nation better beware. If this ship doesnt turn around soon, it could be a long year, and one of the biggest letdowns in recent history for New England.
