Sidney Crosby gets two assists in 1,000th NHL game

Crosby is the first to play in 1,000 games with the Penguins and he celebrated in style by assisting on both goals by Kris Letang in the contest. “It means a lot,” he said. “It’s a special day regardless of the outcome, but it makes it so much better when you win. Just everything from the guys and the ceremony in the room and on the ice, I was just completely spoiled today. It was a pretty awesome experience and a day I’ll always remember.” He became the 350th NHL player, and the 25th active one, to reach 1,000 games. Crosby is the 57th player, including the 10th active one, to play in 1,000 contests with one team. He has generated 1,278 points (468 goals, 810 assists), which is the eighth-highest total through 1,000 games in NHL history.
