Koskinen makes 24 saves for third shutout of season

Connor McDavid scored the only goal, and Mikko Koskinen made 24 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in a 1-0 win against the Calgary Flames at Rogers Place on Sunday.

The Oilers (16-12-2) are 7-2-1 under coach Ken Hitchcock and have won five straight games at home. Tonight, was a prime example as to exactly why
Hitchcock was the perfect choice to coach this team. The Flames had been on a five-game win streak heading to action. however, the Oilers cooled them off with an impressive all-around team game, that dare I say, had a playoff feel.

Oilers improve to 11-1-2 in 1-goal games with their first 1-0 win in regulation during the regular season since Ryan Potulny scored w/:17 left to beat Philly Feb. 3, 2010.

Oilers gut it out behind stellar performance from Koskinen-24 saves.
Flames 2nd of back-to-back just 4 SOG's in 3rd, Rittich was very good.
McDavid got the goal; now has 11-6-17 in 14 GP vs Flames.
Oilers have 5 won straight at home.
Hitchcock is 7-2-1 as Oilers Head Coach.

Koskinen is 6-0 at home. He has three shutouts. He’s Save-percentage is .972 With this victory the Oilers are now just one point out of a playoff spot with momentum on thier side.
