There is little to no competition in the South East Asian Region even with just the Gilas cadets playing for the country.

The Philippine team had a few hiccups in the Sea Games but not enough to threaten the dominance of the Philippines in a region where we are considered the best basketball team.

There is just no one else as big and as skilled as we are in the region. The recently concluded Sea Games Basketball tournament result was as expected as anything else aside from gold would have been considered a failure.

However, we learned that other South East Asian teams are catching up not only in size but in skills and basketball executions. Some of the teams now have more and more half breed players like the Philippines and I won't be surprised if within the next couple of years, other SEA teams will figure out how to dethrone the Philippines. For now, let's salute our heroes and our gold medalists.
