McGregor “May Pick” Pacman if Money Won’t Step Up

UFC Superstar Connor “Notorious” McGregor recently expressed willingness to Fight other boxers, including Manny Pacquiao, if Floyd Mayweather Jr “craps his jock”. In a video posted on Instagram by @thenotoriousmma, Connor was shown shadow boxing while uttering instructions to an unnamed protégé of his, along is a caption that reads:

Here is a reply video I sent one of my protégés who was seeking advice on some boxing only pad work footage they sent me. I believe you will like it. The focus has been solely boxing lately but make no mistakes, the kicking and grappling aspects, and everything else got to do with unlimited free fighting, is still very much present in my thoughts. Floyd may crap his jocks after all and if so I will go back to true fighting or just pick another boxer like manny or something. But whatever that's another conversation.”

The Irish phenom is notable for speaking his mind all too often and such statement must be taken in a tongue-in-cheek manner. But if both fighters seriously decide to make the fight happen, there stands an impediment.

Promoters have attested to Mayweather and his camp’s notoriety to push for absurd demands in already strenuous negotiations for big Money fights, but  this time around, it has been reported that the UFC, where McGregor is contracted to, have forced the talks to a standstill. Unverified reports also say that  UFC demands a huge chunk of McGreggor’s purse apparently to dissuade their fighter from the negotiations. Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, has been quoted in an interview with Milan Ordoñez of SB Nation saying the organization wants 80% of Mcgreggor's purse:

“80-20 percent,” Mayweather said. “(Conor) would have to take 20 percent, if he’s allowed to fight. And the one thing is that Dana’s his boss. He’ll still make more money than he ever did, but at the same time, that’s very tough pill to swallow.”

Pundits speculate that this move by UFC shows their unwillingness to lend their fighter for fear of not seeing their biggest star walk the octagon again after earning a hefty amount of money. The fight is rumored to generate $1 billion in revenues and could earn Mayweather and Mcgreggor a guaranteed purse of $100 million and $75 million respectively.
