Age uke – Mae geri – Gyaku zuki – Gedan barai

This is a Purple and White Belt Combination For The 3rd Kyu Brown Belt Examination
Stepping forward and back Age Uke, Mae Geri, Gyaku Zuki, Gedan Barai.

For the 3rd Kyu Brown belt examination we would like to see 2 x combinations going forward and 2 x combinations going backward slowly and then the same fast.

Once again, this combination is working on shomen (square facing) and hanmi (side facing). This is a really important fundemental of Shotokan Karate and I urge karateka to work on this important aspect of your training.

1. Step forward age uke (upper rising block)
2. Keep the same height and kick mae geri (front kick) with the back leg whilst keeping the blocking arm and hikite arms still.
3. As you step back with the kicking leg, land and punch gyaku zuki (reverse punch)
4. Finish with a gedan barai (downward block)
