Tired of that clunky Nail Knot and leader butt at the end of your fly line?
- Insert the 3-in-1 Nail Knot Pipe about one centimeter into the end of the fly line that connects to the leader.Proceed as follows:
- Pierce the fly line with the tip of the 3-in-1 Nail Knot Pipe.
- Slide the 3-in-1 Nail Knot Pipe through the one centimeter section of fly line so the needle eye is visible.
- Insert the tippet end of your leader into the needle eye on the 3-in-1 Nail Knot Pipe.
- Reverse the 3-in-1 Nail Knot Pipe back out the end of the fly line and draw the tippet-end of the leader through the line so 2 to 3 inches of the butt section of the leader is sticking out of the hole you created in the fly line.
- Clip off the loop on the butt end of the leader, if there is one.
- Using a piece of sandpaper, gently sand the one inch section of the leader sticking out out of the end of the fly line.
- Mark the end of the sanded section of the leader with a Sharpie.
- Apply a dab of Zap-a-Gap to the sanded section of the leader.
- Pull the butt-end of the leader until the mark is even with the end of the fly line.
- Clip the remaining butt section as close to the fly line as possible.
- Apply a dab of Zap-a-gap to the hole in the fly line.
- Allow one minute to dry.
- Tie on your fly and GO FISH!
