Roma captain Francesco Totti believes that their sacrifice and team spirit carried them to the top of Serie A.

The Giallorossi are one point ahead of Inter with just five games remaining of the current campaign.

Writing in Il Corriere dello Sport, Totti revealed the hard work that has gone into Roma's title challenge.

Totti said, “Considering how we started the season and where we are now, it all seems unreal. But we have got to top spot through sacrifice and our team spirit on the pitch.”

“We have to consolidate our leadership now by playing our next five games as if they were five finals.”

“Together with the fans and the club, we have to be a solid unit in order to realise what we all wish for,” he concluded.

Roma are back in action at the weekend when they take on Lazio in the derby.
