Beppe Marotta Targets Coppa Italia Title

Inter director Beppe Marotta said the Coppa Italia is “within our reach” ahead of tonight’s semi-final with Napoli, while the club was “very clear” with Emiliano Viviano.

“The Coppa Italia is certainly an objective, as Inter want to give their best in every competition and that means reaching the Final,” Marotta told Rai Sport.

“Inter arrive with the awareness we have made vast improvements, which was the objective, to create and grow a winning model. Antonio Conte has been able to achieve that with the resources at his disposal.

“We must remain humble, work hard, focus on the details, as that’s what makes the difference. The fans are waiting for an important achievement and the Coppa Italia could well be within our reach.

“Of course, we must respect Napoli this evening, too.”

Inter gave Emiliano Viviano a medical yesterday, but did not sign the free agent to a contract, as they are waiting to see how long Samir Handanovic will be out of action for with a fractured finger.

“At this moment of the season, we don’t want to leave anything to chance,” continued Marotta.

“With Handanovic unavailable, we evaluated an alternative scenario. We contacted Viviano and were very clear.

We’ll evaluate the situation carefully over the next few days, but it was necessary he undergo a medical first.”
