It has been a drawn out sage, but it was worth the wait as Inter have officially signed Christian Eriksen from Tottenham and the newest Inter star said that he “couldn’t wait” to become a Nerazzurro.

“I couldn’t wait to join, it’s wonderful to be here and I’m happy to be a new Inter player,” he told InterTV. “I’m very excited and can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans. I’ve already experienced their warmth. It’s been a fantastic welcome. I feel great.”

The Dane impressed at Tottenham but claimed he doesn’t care too much about his personal record.

“I’m not really someone who places great importance on statistics, but I know that there are people who like talking about this,” he added. “The numbers say that I did really well in England. It’s now time to start a new challenge, I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play in Serie A for a big team. Inter is a fantastic club.”

Eriksen’s contract with Spurs was set to expire this summer and he could have moved on a free transfer come June.That Inter were able to land Eriksen now, when in six months he would have had his pick of big clubs to choose from is a huge win for Beppe Marotta and Antonio Conte.

Inter reportedly paid €20m to sign Eriksen, plus they agreed to pay €1m to his youth clubs and the gate from a friendly between the two sides in the future.
