Inter Need To Raise €50m To Meet FFP

While the likes of Manchester City and PSG scoffed at Financial Fair Play restrictions, Inter are still struggling to live up to the FFP agreement with UEFA, which was signed four years ago.

Early indications are that Inter will need to make around €50m in player sales by June 30 in order to ensure they break even.

In previous seasons, Inter have used the sales of young players to ensure they break even for the reporting period, usually allowing them to leave with buyback options.

For example last summer Inter avoided selling Ivan Perisic to Manchester United by selling Gianluca Caprari, Senna Miangue, Federico Dimarco, Fabio Eguelfi and others instead.

Those sales have depleted Inter’s academy and Gazzetta dello Sport reports, as they may not be able to Raise the funds with the players on the books.

The obvious conclusion from the newspaper is that Inter will need to sell one of its stars this summer.

But an alternative solution would be for Inter to make it to the knockout rounds of the Champions League and the extra money that generates, both in TV money and gate receipts.

Inter could almost cut that €50m total in half by reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League. That’s a big ask, but finishing second in the group and drawing Porto or an aging Bayern side would make the quarter-finals achievable.
