Inter Already Turning Attention To Lazio On Wednesday

Stefano Pioli and his Inter players barely celebrated Sunday’s 1-0 win away to Sassuolo, before turning their attention to Wednesday’s match with Lazio.

Inter will go into that match without Joao Mario and Felipe Melo who will both be suspended and Pioli was not that impressed with Melo getting sent off against Sassuolo.

“Melo was having a good game and I don’t think the second yellow card was fair. He has character and experience, so just needs to control his aggressive style of play a little better.”

Danilo D’Ambrosio in the mixed zone after the victory seemed to speak for the attitude in the dressing room and the importance of Wednesday’s match:

“It’s a win that counts for a lot but it will matter more if we win on Wednesday night too. In the dressing room we said it’d be important to keep a clean sheet and we managed that. With the quality we have up front, we know we’ll score sooner or later so it’s important to keep things tight at the back. We must push on from this – you defend and fight as a unit. We know we still have to improve but we’re doing well.

“It’s a shame Felipe Melo won’t be available on Wednesday because he gives us balance but we have lots of big players and I’m sure whoever comes in for him will play well.”
