The 2021 Lon Las Cymru drew to a nailbiting finish last night as Vic Owens and Gordon Hughes completed the 250 mile journey with less than two minutes remaining on the clock. Vic Owens is the first female to complete the event. Earlier in the day, first runners James Bassett and Stephen Davies reached the terminus of the Taff Trail in Cardiff together. Richard Mcchesney completed the distance just after the 88 hour cutoff.
The runners are virtually self-supported. Water is provided at checkpoints every 25 miles. The Lon Las course follows cycle route 8 from Holyhead to Cardiff with the last 55 miles on the Taff Trail.
