The NFC East is stacked with good running backs.

The NFC East Is Stacked With Good Running Backs.

This year, Saquon Barkley went to the New York Giants as the second round pick of the NFL Draft, and you couldn't help but think: "This division just got better at Running back".

And then some other moves in the backfield made me think: "Holy crap. The division's going to get better and better at that position".

So we rate those who were drafted - and the young undrafted free agents - at each team. It makes for quite the list...

1. Saquon Barkley (New York Giants): The hype around Barkley has gotten so big that there was a video made about his ROOKIE CAMP (yes, we're serious!).  If the second-overall draft pick from Penn State is as good as everyone says he is, the Giants will go from the seventh-worst running team in the NFL to one of the better ones. His pass-catching ability will also give Eli Manning some easier throws to make, too.

2. Derrius Guice (Washington Redskins): We are STILL trying to work out why Guice fell as low as he did. A lot of crap was talked behind his back by NFL staffs, but Washington seemed to be the only team to have ignored the drivel and taken Guice. His jinking runs broke a lot of ankles in college - and we can see them doing the same at pro level. The Redskins now have one of the quickest - and best - rookies around. We still can't understand why he wasn't in the first of second round.

3. Bo Scarbrough (Dallas Cowboys): Could not believe Scarbrough was a seventh-round pick. Despite his lowered numbers in 2017 from 2016, that was more about the depth that Alabama had at that position, as well as the running of Jalen Hurts, the team's QB. He's deceptively quick and could prove to be a battering ram at short-yardage situations...if he gets out of camp.

4. Josh Adams (Philadelphia Eagles): Again, a great signing by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent, but Adams will be walking into the most-packed of packed backfields. If he gets there - and his foot injury isn't too serious - then Philly could have quite the weapon. Behind one of the better lines in college football at Notre Dame, Adams ran for 1,400 yards and 9 TDs last year.

5. Martez Carter (Washington Redskins): He's thought-of as a third-down back in some circles, but at Grambling he was such a running and receiving threat that he was dubbed 'Mr Excitement' by all who knew him. He could form a useful back three with Perine and Guice. Oh, and his pass-catching ability could also help Kirk Cousins.

6. Jordan Chunn (Dallas Cowboys): Chunn would be a bit of a bet for the Cowboys, the fact that he had the record about of TDs in school history (and put up nearly 200 yards on the road at LSU) should speak for something. Coming into Dallas 6ft tall and weighing 230lb, it should be an interesting battle between Scarbrough and him for the final spot.
