Kean: Phil Jones is the future captain

Blackburn manager Steve Kean has said that the 18 year old defender has a bright future and can Captain Blackburn in the future.

The Young Defender has already shown his skills in Premier League and is considered as one of the brightest young defenders in the country. Phil has recently been awarded with a contract extension for his good work at the club.

Boss Steve Kean hopes that the loyalty that Phil Jones showed will see him at the club for long. Steve has praises for the young defender has talked about how he want to develop future Blackburn around him.

Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph: "He already had a five-year contract and to make that longer and give him a financial uplift we can show him you don't need to go anywhere else.

"Stay here and play your football and this is going to be the place where you can stay and quite possibly be the Captain of the club in years to come.

"He can be a leader together with the other captains we have already got. Phil is certainly a future captain.

"He is going to attract interest from the top clubs.

"He is not only a centre half, he can play in midfield as well.

"It is massively important that we have convinced him to ward off any of the bigger hitters by getting him on an improved deal."
