Watch: A video of Shah Rukh Khan picking up fallen KKR flags gets viral

Bollywood superstar and co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Shah Rukh Khan, is well-known for his steadfast support of his team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Now, he’s won them over with another endearing gesture. A video of the “King Khan” repeatedly picking up fallen KKR flags in the hospitality section during Sunday’s match between the legendary Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has gone viral on social media.

The ardent support that SRK has shown for KKR since the league’s founding was met with a resounding response from the crowd. On the day of the match, his happy disposition was apparent, particularly when the Knight Riders defeated LSG by eight wickets.

KKR defeats LSG in their first-ever meeting.

On Sunday, April 14, at the storied Eden Gardens, the two-time winners won their fourth game of the season by defeating the Lucknow-based team by eight wickets. After KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss, he invited LSG to bat first. After Vaibhav Arora dismissed starter Quinton de Kock in the second over of the match, Mitchell Starc—the most expensive addition in the history of the cash-rich league—made an early breakthrough for his team by dismissing Deepak Hooda inside the powerplay.

The big-hitting West Indian Nicholas Pooran ended up being the visiting team’s leading scorer, despite the lack of contributions from LSG skipper KL Rahul and Ayush Badoni. LSG scored 161-7 thanks to a magnificent 45 runs off 32 from Pooran, which included two boundaries and four maximums. In the meantime, star pacer Starc conceded 28 runs but took two more wickets, including the vital removal of Pooran.

Sunil Narine collapsed early to Mohsin Khan’s delivery while chasing the 162-run chase. After that, Mohsin took another wicket, getting rid of Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the fourth over. With 26 balls remaining, KKR secured an eight-wicket victory, with Phil Salt leading the charge and hitting a match-winning knock of 89 runs off 47 balls.

The Knight Riders, on the other hand, had a 3-0 record against the Lucknow franchise since their founding during the 2022 edition, making this their first-ever victory over the Super Giants.
