The NFL Draft is this Thursday, and thank God, because if I hear the words “Mock draft” one more time, I’m going to rocket myself into the sun.

Anyway, all eyes will be on the Buffalo Bills and what they plan to do with the No. 28 choice. Will they remain stationary or move up for a receiver? Here’s how I see things going in what will happily be my final mock draft of the 2024 season.

Round 1, Pick 20 (Proposed trade with Steelers): WR Brian Thomas Jr., LSU

If the Bills don’t make a big trade for a top receiver, trading up in the draft is the next best option. The Steelers are a potential candidate to select at No. 20, as they will aim to address receiver, center, and tackle within the first 100 picks in the draft. Buffalo trades picks 28 and 60 to the Steelers in exchange for picks 20 and 84. They sign Brian Thomas, who will become the Bills’ leading receiver.

Round 3, pick 84: WR Jamari Thrash, Louisville.

Buffalo still requires a second perimeter threat, which is where Thrash fits in. He is one of the most polished route runners in this draft class, and he would provide the Bills with a very deep receiving corps.

Round 4, pick 128: CB. Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Louisville

This offseason, the Bills lost many depth pieces in the secondary. They dismissed Tre’Davious White, and Dane Jackson left in free agency to sign with the Carolina Panthers. Brownlee might fight with Kaiir Elam for the No. 3 cornerback spot on the roster.

Round 4, Pick 129 (Proposed trade with Vikings): DT Mekhi Wingo, LSU

The Bills give two of their three fifth-round picks (144 and 160) to the Vikings, allowing them to go back into the fourth round and select Wingo. They lost Tim Settle and Poona Ford to free agency. They brought in Austin Johnson and Casey Toohill to give depth, but they need someone they can shape for the future, which Wingo is capable of doing.

Round 4, Pick 133: S. Malik Mustapha of Wake Forest

Buffalo does not have much depth at safety. Jordan Poyer and Siran Neal are both currently in Miami. The Bills brought in Mike Edwards and re-signed Taylor Rapp, but they still need to add players. Mustapha is an excellent box safety who can aid against the run as well as drop back deep into coverage.

Round 5, Pick 163: LB JD Bertrand, Notre Dame.
Last year, Buffalo lost Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard to injuries, with Milano missing nearly the whole season after colliding with the Jaguars in London. They added Nicholas Morrow but lost Tyrel Dodson to the Seahawks. Bertrand might be a good addition in the fifth round.

Round 6, Pick 200: RB. Dylan Laube of New Hampshire.
The Bills would be an ideal destination for Laube. He rushed for 745 yards and nine touchdowns while also catching 68 passes for 708 yards. That type of dual-threat back will be ideal for Joe Brady’s offensive style.

Round 6, Pick 204: Quarterback. Joe Milton, TN

Well, why not? It would be entertaining to watch Milton and Allen throughout training camp simply firing balls to Venus. Buffalo would be an excellent fit for Milton, as his playing style is similar to Allen’s.

Round 7, Pick 248: C. Drake Nugent, Michigan

Nugent was one of the nation’s most consistent and dependable centers last season. The Bills have Spencer McGovern and Will Clapp on their roster, but their depth at guard is limited. If they wanted to transition Nugent to guard, that would be one avenue to take.
