Dallas Cowboys Plan Ripped by NFL Exec; Double-Up On Linemen in Draft

Amidst a relatively quiet free agency period, the Dallas Cowboys are facing scrutiny from an NFC scouting director.

With the offseason well underway and the NFL Draft approaching, the Cowboys have garnered attention more for their lack of impactful signings than for any significant acquisitions.

According to ESPN, an anonymous NFL team’s director of scouting expressed confusion over Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ strategy, particularly his heavy reliance on the upcoming draft for success.

The scouting director stated to ESPN, “I don’t really understand the plan there so far this offseason, but there’s a lot weighing on this draft, and they seem to be confident about finding a bunch of starters.”

Now, the Cowboys find themselves needing solutions on the offensive line, a top-tier running back, and a contingency plan at quarterback if Dak Prescott’s contract situation remains uncertain.

Reportedly, Jones and his team are banking heavily on the draft to address these needs, with a focus on bolstering the offensive line early in the selection process.

ESPN suggests potential picks like Graham Barton from Duke and Jackson Powers-Johnson as immediate upgrades for the interior line, allowing Tyler Smith to transition to left tackle. Additionally, the Cowboys could consider drafting two offensive linemen early to solidify their front.

With the 24th overall pick and two more in the top 100, the Cowboys have the resources to make impactful selections. However, the pressure is on to improve upon last year’s draft performance, as the team aims to break through in the postseason amid questions surrounding their free agency approach.
