The hits just keep on coming for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Not only did they get swept out of the first round of the playoffs, but they are set to lose a key player for all of next year.

The Brewers are a team that is built on their pitching.

Which is why losing Brandon Woodruff is a big blow.

Woodruff is expected to undergo shoulder surgery that will keep him out most if not all of next season.

This is a major blow as Woodruff was one of the best pitchers in the National League when healthy.

This season, Woodruff was only able to throw 67.0 innings across his 11 starts.

He had an ERA of 2.28 and had a record of 5-1.

The Brewers are devastated that Woodruff needs surgery but they are hoping for a speedy recovery.

According to Adam McCalvy, Brewers GM Matt Arnold said: “Brandon is not only one of the best pitchers in our franchise’s history but is also a valued member of our organization off the field.”

Not having Woodruff all of next year is a major blow to the Brewers.

But, he has been battling injuries for a large portion of his career.

This is just another obstacle the 30-year-old needs to overcome.

While injuries to the throwing shoulder are never ideal, there have been countless pitchers who have overcome these issues and returned to the top of their game.

Hopefully, after a year of rest and recovery, we will see Woodruff back on the top of his game.
