Atletico Madrid will aim to secure their sixth consecutive victory in all competitions when they face Celta Vigo in their upcoming La Liga match on Saturday night.

Currently occupying the fourth position in the La Liga standings, Diego Simeone’s team trails the league leaders Real Madrid by five points with a game in hand. On the other hand, Celta Vigo finds themselves in the 18th spot, having only accumulated six points from their first nine games.

Celta will be without Mihailo Ristic due to a muscular injury sustained against Getafe before the international break. This absence is likely to provide an opportunity for Manu Sanchez to feature in the starting lineup.

Franco Cervi remains sidelined due to injury, but apart from that, Celta Vigo is in good shape. Manager Benitez would have been pleased with his team’s attacking performance against Getafe.

Iago Aspas, who missed a penalty in the previous match, is still searching for his first goal of the season. However, the experienced forward is expected to retain his position in the attacking third alongside Jorgen Strand Larsen.

On the other hand, Atletico Madrid will be missing several key players for this weekend’s clash, including Vitolo, Jose Gimenez, Memphis Depay, Thomas Lemar, and Reinildo.

Angel Correa, Caglar Soyuncu, and Pablo Barrios are also major doubts due to injury concerns. The capital side has been plagued by various fitness issues in the early stages of the 2023-24 campaign.

Stefan Savic could make a return to the back three for this match, but otherwise, Atletico Madrid is likely to field the same lineup that faced Real Sociedad in their previous outing.

Alvaro Morata has been in fine form, scoring five La Liga goals in the early stages of the season. The 30-year-old striker is expected to continue leading the attack alongside Griezmann.
