No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft Victor Wembanyama has shined in the NBA Preseason thus far. On Friday, his San Antonio Spurs took on the Miami Heat in a tune-up. Wemby led the Spurs to the 120-104 win with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Wembanyama had a couple crazy highlight plays on both sides of the ball—a glimpse of the immense potential. On one play under the basket, he scared one player into passing the ball and immediately blocked the shot attempt after the pass.
Devin Vassell, who recently signed a healthy contract extension with the Spurs, scored 21 points.
Jimmy Butler did not suit up for the Heat. Jamal Cain led all scorers with 24 points. Duncan Robinson had 14.
