The dance floor glowed as red and blue laser beams shot out from the rotating lights in the ceiling.
Music pounded against the walls and the smell of alcohol, sex and drugs filled her nostrils.
Beatrix looked around anxiously as she tried to find a place to sit but the couches littered around against the walls were filled with people who were busy making out.
A flush appeared on Beatrix's face and she quickly averted her gaze. How could people do that in public?
Don't they have any shame? But well the club was an escape for people society didn't want. They could do anything they wanted without people's judging gaze and here she was judging them.
Beatrix sighed, she felt so out of place. This wasn't her. She couldn't believe she had let Stella manage to talk her into coming here.
Devil's inn was a notorious club in country ZY. It was where all the dirty sins took place. Sex, drugs, alcohols and even murder.
It was rumored that the club owner was part of the mafia and he tortured people in the basement. Thundering music and drunk people, a perfect cover up for someone's screams. Beatrix thought.
Don't ask her how she knew this. Being the only daughter of the most dangerous mob boss in county XY came with certain knowledge.
Beatrix felt a nudge to her shoulder and she looked to her right to see Stella rolling her eyes at her. She leaned down to her ear, yelling over the thundering music.
"Wipe that look from your face, Bea. Come on, let's go get some drinks. You need to loosen up!"
Stella pulled her arm before she could protest. She led her through the mass of sweaty bodies and the stench of alcohol before they reached the bar.
Stella shouted out orders at the bartender whilst
she just stood behind her. Beatrix had never stepped foot in a place like this in all of her twenty two years of existence. Her father would kill her if he finds out she is here.
"Here you go." Beatrix turned a bit distracted as Stella shoved a drink into her hands, "Now take a gulp of this and stop goddamn worrying about whatever it is you're worrying about this time. Your father would never find out you're here. Remember the reason why we are here."
Beatrix blushed. Stella knew her so well, she was able to tell what Beatrix was thinking. She knew that she was worrying about something without her even having to tell her.
She guessed that was the thing about best friends, they just knew.
Stella and her were polar opposites. Stella was loud, confident and extremely social while she couldn't say two words to a stranger without stuttering.
Maybe coming from a household where women had no say in anything and might even lose their life if they had an opinion was the reason.
Beatrix exhaled deeply, she closed her eyes and
brought the glass to her lips, tilting her head back.
She gulped the drink in one hit, cringing as it burnt her throat.
Okay that was strong.
Beatrix coughed slightly, dragging her hand across her mouth as she inhaled deeply.
"Bartender!" Stella yelled once again and began
Beatrix smiled as watched her friend flirt with the bartender. If only she was this bold, she wouldn't be so lonely.
"Drink up," Stella said, shoving another drink in
her hands, and she did just that. This one was a lot sweeter than the last, it had a strawberry flavor.
Beatrix could already feel the warmth spreading through her body, and she squeezed her eyes shut waiting for the burning in her throat to die down.
When she opened her eyes, her whole body stilled as her eyes focused on a figure casually leaning on the corner of the bar.
Standing almost a head above most of the men
around him, his broad shoulders and thick arms
screamed strength and power.
He had looked relaxed, a drink held calmly in one hand that he moved lazily to his lips and back to the bar again.
But there was something about his stance and his eyes that made her a little breathless. His gaze was cold and alluring.
Beatrix had seen her fair share of dangerous men coming in and out of her father's office but this man…this man was the most dangerous she had ever seen.
With tattoos decorating his left arm and his eyebrows pierced he was the most captivating man she had ever seen. Maybe it was the alcohol because when did she find men with tattoos and piercings attractive?
Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion as his head slowly turned towards her and his piercing hazel eyes locked on hers. Beatrix stopped breathing for a moment as he evaluated her.
Nerves fluttered in her stomach and she fidgeted due to the intensity of his gaze.
Beatrix swallowed and wetted her lips, a habit she did when she was nervous. She felt his gaze now on her lips and she froze. She was completely transfixed.
"Oh my God, who is that hot guy!" Stella exclaimed, startling her and she averted her gaze. A faint blush tainting her cheeks.
"Beatrix Quinn, were you checking him out?" Stella grinned her eyes glinting with amusement.
"What-no, no I was just, I uhm" A deep blush coated her cheeks as she fumbled over the lie.
"Hhmmm?" Stella raised her eyebrows at her, clearly not believing her.
"I was not! Y- you know I like good boys like the perfect boy next door, not those who scream danger."
Stella chuckled and shook her head, "But he is perfect for you. You need a little spice in your boring ass life. Come on, let's go. We are going to talk to him."
Beatrix widened her eyes and shook her head, "N-no no. "
A wicked smile graced Stella's face as she ignored her friend and walked towards the man. Beatrix's heart slammed in her chest as Stella leaned closer to man and whispered something in his ears.
His gaze fell on her briefly before he turned towards Stella and nodded. He gulped down his drink and placed it on the bar before he stood up and they walked towards her.
Anxiety and panic gripped every nerve in her body and her pulse raced. Her heart galloped in her chest and her breathing became erratic as they approached closer.
His intense gaze made her feel like a prey. Like a lion calmly assessing his prey.
God, what should she do? Should she run away? That seemed like the best idea.
Maybe she should pretend that she didn't know Stella? Beatrix turned around and stared at the blazing lights, for some reason they suddenly seemed interesting.
She pushed her glasses on the bridge of her nose praying that any moment the ground would swallow her whole when she felt a presence between her and Stella came to stand in front of her with what are you doing look.
Beatrix glared at her friend and shook her head as she swallowed the lump in her throat.
Stella turned her around as they faced the man who had an amused smirk pulled tight on his dangerous lips
Beatrix blinked as her brain processed what was going on. Did this sexy god just call her love with his smooth and deep voice?
She must be dreaming, yes a dream because how the fuck would anyone call her love?
Beatrix flicked her eyes to his, heat spread over her
cheeks and she was relieved the lighting here was deep red, otherwise she would look like an idiot.
Not that she wasn't looking like one right now as her mouth worked to form a response but none released from her lips.
He cocked his brow at her, encouraging her to say something.
"H-Hi!" She cringed at how strangled her voice came out.
He nodded with amusement glinting in his eyes as his eyes travelled down her body and back to her face with a smirk.
Beatrix really wished she had followed Stella's advice and wore the short black sexy dress she had gave her not a stupid Mickey Mouse t-shirt and baggy jeans. Her red hair was in waves on her shoulders and her glasses were too big for her face so she had been told.
"Nice shirt." He complimented her with his signature smirk on his face.
The bitter flower of shame bloomed across her cheeks and she bit her lips nervously, "I-thank you." She managed to say as her eyes darted across to Stella who had left her alone and was now flirting with the bartender. Fucking betrayer.
The man let out a small chuckle probably due to her shifting back and forth on her feet and compulsively toying with the hem of her t-shirt.
He moved closer to her, leaning his head down to her eye level.
"Do I make you nervous, love?"He questioned and pulled back while he waited for her answer.
Beatrix rubbed the back of her neck, an embarrassing strangled noise leaving her throat "Haaa, nervous? No I just, It's not everyday that hot sexy strangers talk to me and call me love." Beatrix mumbled and licked her lips.
"So you think I'm sexy and hot?" He questioned as his lips curved up playfully.
"N-no I-I mean yes! Definitely! Hottest guy in the room right now."
He chuckled and moved closer. His eyes darted down to her face before flicking back up to hers and they flashed with something she couldn't read.
Beatrix had no idea what's going on right now.
Why did she feel like she was paralysed? She should move away, she definitely needed to move away before she did something she would regret.
Her heart raced in her chest as his tongue darted out to wet his lips while his eyes flicked back and forth between hers, it was like they were both stuck in some kind of trance.
Was the room on fire? Because it was very warm in here all of a sudden.
Surely something was on fire.
Yes, her. Definitely her, she was on fire
"Do you want to get out of here?" He suddenly asked, snapping her out of stupor.
Beatrix blinked in confusion, "Huh?"
He smiled at her and smirked, "Do you want to go somewhere more private?" He asked again.
Maybe it was the liquor clouding her judgement because Beatrix found herself nodding.
Beatrix sucked in a deep breath when he leaned
down, his lips grazing against her ear
"Words love, use them."
Okay for no reason that was hot? Beatrix swallowed the lump in her throat and replied, "Y-Yes."
He broke into a dangerous smile that made
her heart slammed against her chest.
"Good, let me ask permission from your friend first."
Beatrix blinked in shock when she heard him. Did he just say he was going to ask permission?
Well that was new? He didn't look like someone who would ask others opinions over something.
Beatrix watched as he walked towards Stella and whispered something in her ears causing her eyes to widen.
Please say no…please say no. She chanted
Stella nodded and then turned to look at Beatrix with a grin on her face.
"Have fun!" She mouthed to her.
Beatrix stiffened, did Stella agree? She was hoping that since her judgement had been clouded by the alcohol, Stella would have been the sane one to say no. She guessed she was wrong!
Maybe she should lie that she was not feeling well? Oh come on Beatrix, get a grip on yourself. She groaned internally.
"Let's go?" A voice snapped her from her thoughts. When did he even get here? Beatrix thought. Having anxiety was so bad now her mind wouldn't shut up telling her how bad her decision was.
What if he is a serial killer? Or even worse, a rapist? God—
"Hey..are you okay?" He asked as he gently squeezed her arm.
Beatrix's heart jumped in her chest and she blushed.
"Y-yes." She mumbled.
The mysterious man raised her eyebrows, "Are you sure? If you are not comfortable we don't have to go. We can sit here and chat. No need to stress yourself, love."
Love, that fucking endearment would be the end of her.
"N-no I-I'm okay..I'm just remembering if I wore a pretty panty today. You know girls we-"
Beatrix froze and panic shot through her when she realized what she had just said. Oh boy, did she-
She lifted her gaze to him when she heard a deep laughter. God she wished she had an invisible superpower so that she could disappear right now. That was so awkward. Someone shot her right now.
Beatrix Quinn, what the hell is wrong with you?! She internally palm slammed her face and averted her gaze.
"Hmm so are you wearing a pretty panty?" He reached forward and grabbed a piece of her red hair and twirled it between his fingers.
Beatrix wetted her lips and swallowed the lump in her throat.
"W-well I-I guess that's for me to know and for you to find out."
Did she just flirt with this dangerous brooding man? The alcohol was really messing with her. Because everybody knows that Beatrix Quinn never flirts. It's not like she could even if she tries.
"Is that an invitation, love?"
She blinked. A lovely pink hue rose to her cheekbones. Her mouth worked to form a response but none released from her lips.
The man smirked and reached down and wrapped his large hand with her small,
"Well then, let's go love."
He led her through the sticky mass of crowd and turned around to look at her when they reached the staircase.
"Are you okay?!" He shouted over the loud music and Beatrix nodded.
He gave her a smile and her breath hitched as warmth spread through her. Life was really unfair. How can people even look more beautiful when they smiled while she looked like chucky from the horror movie?
Beatrix tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach with him holding her hands. She followed him on the staircase as she tried her best not to touch the railings or bump into the people making out.
Ew! Okay maybe she was just jealous of them sucking the life out of each other.
Once they reached the top he turned sharply, and panic shot through her as she tried to figure where he was taking her.
They reached a small corridor and he pushed a door open leading her inside of it. Beatrix realized that they were now on the rooftop of the bar.
"Are you afraid of heights?" He asked as they approached the edge of the rooftop.
"N-no." Beatrix replied and bit her lips nervously. God was he going to push her off the building? Yes that must be the reason because why the hell would he bring her here? Beatrix glanced around if anyone was around but unfortunately they were alone.
So there would be no witnesses if he decides to push her? Gosh she must be really stupid to follow a complete hot mysterious stranger to the edge of a rooftop.
"Good, let's sit down." He said while he helped her sit on the edge with her feet dangling in the cold air.
He sat beside her and Beatrix realized how close they were when her hand brushed his.
She pretended to be busy as she stared at the starry black sky. Her heart rate increased as she stole a glance at him.
"You might want to be becareful, we don't want your pretty body splattered on the floor, do we?"
He said, entertained by her squirming and gestured to the floor below them.
Beatrix swallowed and shook her head.
He smirked but said nothing. They sat in silence for a while with Beatrix stealing glances at him. Now that they were out of the blazing lights she realized he had lots of tattoos.
It started from his neck and sneaked into his low cut black loose shirt that hung deep below
his firm chest.
Gosh wouldn't that have hurt? She knew every tattoo had a meaning, she wondered what his story might be for him to have this many.
"You can look at me you know, I don't bite" his
deep voice rolled out of his mouth breaking the silence.
Beatrix finally lifted her gaze to look at him. She realized he was more handsome outside of the dim lightening of the bar.
The man turned to look at her, meeting her a gaze. They stared at each other for a minute as time seemed to slow down.
Beatrix's pulse started it's own little sprint through her veins as she became aware of her own heartbeat. She flushed and quickly averted her gaze.
"You're a shy little thing aren't you sweetheart?" He chuckled and the blush deepened on her face.
"What's your name?" he asked and darted his tongue out to lick his lips.
Beatrix wondered how it tasted like.
"Beatrix." She replied before her thoughts would run south.
"Beatrix." He repeated her name and her name hadn't sounded this nice before.
His thick accent made her name sound sexy. Not like the name of some old woman. For once Beatrix loved her name.
"I'm Rhys." He introduced himself.
"Erm hi Rhys." She said softly a stupid smile etched on her face. Rhys, she loved the name. Beatrix and Rhys nice. So Beys or trixys? Which one would make a nice ship couple name?
Beatrix stiffened when she realized what she was thinking. She couldn't believe she was already planning their ship name. This is what happens when you have been single throughout your life. She groaned internally.
"Hi." He replied back with an amused smile on his face.
Her heart fluttered at how handsome he looked with the smile on his face.
"So are you from here?" He asked curiously as he raked his hands through his hair and leaned back waiting for her answer.
"Uh no. I'm from Country XY. We came here because of a school project. We will go back the day after tomorrow."
"Hm, I see." he hummed, disappointment laced in his voice. Why was he disappointed? Was it because he wouldn't see her again?
She fidgeted with her fingers anxiously, feeling suffocated being so close to this perfect god. She doesn't remember the last time she was this close to a guy. Maybe in kindergarten when the teacher divided them into groups for coloring?
"Uh, so" she cleared her throat breaking the silence, "Why did you want us to come somewhere private?"
He turned to her and stared intensely into her eyes. Beatrix swallowed at the intensity of the gaze and her breathing picked up at how closed they were.
"You're really that innocent huh?"
He trailed his eyes down slowly, burning them into
every inch of her as he takes them down and back
up again, lifting a brow towards her.
Beatrix rubbed the back of her neck, "Me,innocent?Of course not! The last time I mistakenly opened a porn site and oh my God! The things I saw there I feel like I'm tainted forever."
She let out an awkward laugh, running her hand
through the front of her long hair. She couldn't keep still. Her nerves were absolutely killing her right now.
Rhys stared at her for a second before he bursted into laughter.
"You're interesting love, the most interesting woman I have ever met." He said as the corner of his lips curved upwards.
