Marquette Golden Eagles and Purdue Boilermakers Will Have Home-and-Home Series Beginning In 2024-2025

The Marquette Golden Eagles and the Purdue Boilermakers plan on having a home-and-home series starting in 2024-2025, according to multiple sources that told college hoops today. In 2024-2025, the game will be played in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the home of the Golden Eagles.

In 2025-2026, the game will be played at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana. This is a good series for both teams because Marquette and Purdue will be NCAA Tournament-caliber teams over the next couple of seasons. The Boilermakers and the Golden Eagles faced each other a season ago in the Maui Tournament Championship game with Purdue winning that game over Marquette.

Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey (15) blocks Connecticut Huskies guard Tristen Newton (2) in the first half in the national championship game of the Final Four of the 2024 NCAA Tournament at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on April 8, 2024.

Last season, the Purdue Boilermakers made it all the way to the NCAA Championship Game before losing to the UCONN Huskies. UCONN won back-to-back titles and it was the first team to accomplish this feat since the Florida Gators did it in 2006-2007.

As for the Marquette Golden Eagles, they were the number two seed in the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons, but Marquette flamed out in the NCAA Tournament against the 11 North Carolina State Wolfpack in the Sweet 16.

The Purdue Boilermakers and the Marquette Golden Eagles Dates and Times Have Yet To Be Announced

Marquette guard Kam Jones (1) scores on North Carolina State guard DJ Horne (0) during the second half of their game in the semifinals of the South Regional of the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday at American Airlines Arena in Dallas. North Carolina State beat Marquette 67-58.

Purdue and Marquette meetings for the next two seasons have not yet been officially announced, but the dates and times of the games are also yet to be announced. The Boilermakers and the Golden Eagles are both helping each other out in the future and this is a good thing for each program.

Purdue and Marquette will both potentially be ranked in the Top 16 entering the 2024-2025 college basketball season. The Boilermakers are losing one of the best players in college basketball with Zach Edey and the Golden Eagles are losing Oso Ighodaro and Tyler Kolek.

Matt Painter, the head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers, and Shaka Smart, the head coach of the Marquette Golden Eagles are both very good college basketball coaches. There is a reason why these programs have been successful over the past several years. At one point in 2023-2024, both of these programs were ranked in the Top 5 at the same time.

This is why these out-of-conference meetings matter. A lot of college basketball fans will be interested in this matchup over the next two seasons and it will help with tournament resumes because this is something that the college basketball selection committee is looking for.
