The Green Bay Packers have spent the last few seasons getting younger while remaining competitive.  That culminated in the 2023 season being a massive success.  Even though the team finished 9-8, they won their final three games of the season to qualify for the playoffs and then knocked off the #2 seed Dallas Cowboys on the road.

However, the Packers have moved on from a number of starters this off-season.  One of those former starters officially signed with an AFC contender.

Former Green Bay Packers Tight End Signs With AFC Contender

The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking a stab at the tight-end market. A one-year contract has been agreed upon between the Jaguars and former Packers tight end Josiah Deguara, per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.

According to Demetrius Harvey:

Deguara, 27, becomes the team’s eighth outside free agent to sign, joining receivers Gabe Davis and Devin Duvernay, cornerback Ronald Darby, defensive back Darnell Savage, kicker Joey Slye, linebacker Trevis Gipson and center Mitch Morse.

Josiah Deguara Gets Fresh Start With The Jacksonville Jaguars

After being drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati, Deguara missed most of his rookie season with a torn ACL. The following three years, Deguara caught 47 passes for 436 yards and two touchdowns.

For the Packers’ offense, Deguara played various positions, including tight end, fullback, and slot receiver. In 50 games, he also played 559 snaps on special teams.  He started 10 of those games.

It will be interesting to see if the former third round draft pick can revitalize his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
