The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $186 million, according to sources who told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The trade talks about Antetokounmpo leaving the Bucks can be put to bed now with this move.
A lot of fans are extremely thrilled that this move occurred one day before the 2023-2024 NBA regular season begins. One of the reasons why this probably happened is because general manager Jon Horst swung for the fences this offseason by trading for point guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the NBA and is currently in the prime of his NBA career. The championship window for this franchise will be opened for several seasons. Milwaukee last won it all in 2021 against the Phoenix Suns in six games after trailing that series 0-2.
It feels like a new day for Bucks nation, and fans are finally relieved that they don’t have to hear about Antetokounmpo trade rumors, at least for now. He is only 26 years old and will be around the franchise for a while, which is great news.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans React on Twitter to the Giannis Antetokounmpo Contract Extension
Just like in any sports situation, there will be fans that react to big news on social media, especially on Twitter. The Giannis Antetokounmpo news broke when most of you were probably eating dinner on Monday night or watching baseball. Here is what some Bucks fans had to say on Twitter about Antetokounmpo signing his contract extension on Monday:
Not so smart move by Giannis Antetokounmpo to commit long term to milwaukee bucks
Could have waited and put more pressure on em

Giannis’ dedication to the Bucks is evident, even with the chance for an even greater salary the next season: “I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career, as long as we are winning.” Bucks Nation is in for exciting times ahead. #GiannisAntetokounmpo #FearTheDeer #NBA

My expectations for some players.
Russell Westbrook: 6 Man of the Year.
Lebron James: Winning his 5th Championship.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: Winning his second title,
Anthony Davis: Win Defensive Player of the Year.
Jalen Green: Make strides to become a borderline All-Star.

That would be great if Antetokounmpo won his second NBA Championship in four seasons with the Bucks franchise. The Bucks organization and fanbase hope another NBA title happens sooner rather than later here.
