The Green Bay Packers rival, the Chicago Bears, may need a new head coach after this season, and one of the names that could be potentially linked for that job is Michigan’s head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh has the Michigan Wolverines off to an 8-0 start once again this season and are ranked second in the country. His record overall with Michigan is 74-25.
Michigan has yet to win a National Title under Harbaugh, and they have made it to the college football playoffs the last two seasons and have also won the BIG10 title the last two years. Beating the Ohio State Buckeyes has a lot to do with it. In those years, they lost to the Georgia Bulldogs and the TCU Horned Frogs.
Michigan last won it all in 1997. This could be the year they finally win it all, and Harbaugh has been with Michigan since 2015. Before that, he was an NFL head coach with the San Francisco 49ers for a few seasons. He lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl in 2012 and lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game the following season.
Very recently, Michigan and Jim Harbaugh are being investigated by the NCAA once again for sign-stealing operations, sources told ESPN on Thursday.
Could this scandal lead to another exit for Harbaugh out of college and back into the NFL coaching ranks? It remains to be seen, but Shervon Fakhimi of Clutch Points thinks that he could be the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers Rival, the Chicago Bears. Chicago is just 2-5 on the year, and they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday 30-12.
They may not win many more games this season. They had the worst record in the NFL last season, and it is very possible that Matt Eberflus will not make it past his second season with the Chicago Bears. Fakhimi wrote about the possibility of Jim Harbaugh becoming the next head coach of Chicago the other day:
“The Matt Eberflus era has not gone well in Chicago at all. The Bears went 3-14 last season in Eberflus’ first season as head coach and they’re off to a 1-5 start to begin this season. Their offense, while picking it up, has been largely a complete mess with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Justin Fields’ play has stagnant and now he’s injured. Things look like they’ll be getting worse before they get better. But the Bears are in quite an enviable spot. They could have the first two picks of the 2024 NFL Draft thanks to their trade with the Carolina Panthers last year when they dealt away the number one pick in the draft. Those picks could land Caleb Williams AND Marvin Harrison Jr., which could appeal grealty to Harbaugh. The Michigan football coach also played in Chicago for seven seasons as their quarterback. This would be a hard situation to turn down.”
Jim Harbaugh coaching his former NFL team would be an interesting development nonetheless. This could carry on for the rest of the season.
Green Bay Packers Rival Potentially Landing Jim Harbaugh as Next Head Coach Would Put the Division on Notice
If the Chicago Bears landed the top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft and also landed Jim Harbaugh from Michigan as their next head coach, it would put the Green Bay Packers and the rest of the division on notice. Harbaugh is a culture changer, and Chicago needs one in the worst way. Green Bay has owned the Bears over the last several years, but that would come to an immediate end if this happened.
The Detroit Lions will be the class of this division for this season, and the Minnesota Vikings won the division last season. The Green Bay Packers would need to make several changes to get better if the Chicago Bears made these kinds of moves.
