Wisconsin Badgers QB Wins Big Ten Freshman of The Week

The Wisconsin Badgers (5-2, 3-1) are on top of the Big Ten West division after their comeback win against Illinois.  They beat the Fighting Illini by a score of 25-21.

Badgers’ head coach Luke Fickell has already named his players of the game from this past Saturday on X. On Monday, the Wisconsin Badgers freshman quarterback, Braedyn Locke, was named the Big Ten Freshman of The Week.

Braedyn Locke went 21-41 for 240 yards and two touchdowns. The Wisconsin Badgers were down 21-7 during the final quarter against Illinois. Locke is the first quarterback to win the award since Graham Mertz did back in 2020.

Locke threw the game-winning touchdown pass to an offensive lineman that was the highlight of the comeback win. Nolan Rucci made the catch with 27 seconds remaining in the contest.

Braelon Allen’s Stats Against Illinois

Wisconsin Badgers running back Braelon Allen helped aid the comeback with 29 carries for 145 yards. This made the 19th game with Braelon Allen rushing for 100 yards or more in his career. The Badgers have always relied on the running game on offense to score touchdowns.

Allen is still adding to his stats after the last performance on the road. He played a huge role in that game.

Badgers Next Game

With the momentum on their side, the Wisconsin Badgers will face the #3 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in their next game. This will be a huge task for the Badgers at home. The defense will be crucial as they look to stop the Buckeye’s best wide receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr.

On the offensive side, Braedyn Locke will need to have his best performance to date. The Wisconsin Badgers offensive will need to provide great protection up against Ohio State’s strong defensive line/secondary. This is Luke Fickell’s toughest test to this point as the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers!
