Milwaukee Brewers: 2 Prospects Thriving In Arizona Fall League

The Milwaukee Brewers sent eight prospects to the Arizona Fall League this year.  Three position players in Eric Brown Jr, Wes Clarke, and Hendry Mendez were chosen to participate.  Pitchers selected were Joseph Hernandez, Adam Seminaris, Justin Yeager, Justin King, and Shane Smith.

From this group two of the position players are thriving early on.  Here is a closer look at how they are performing approximately half way through the season.

Two Milwaukee Brewers prospects thriving in 2023 Arizona Fall League.

The first player to mention is former 2022 first round draft selection Eric Brown Jr.  A scapula injury limited his playing time in 2023, so having him get extra work in this Fall against some good competition made sense.  So far he has been one of the most exciting prospects to watch.

Through 15 games Eric Brown Jr is slashing .333/.433/.456 with eight stolen bases.  His eight walks to 13 strikeouts is a pretty good ratio and his 19 total hits is the fifth most among all prospects.  A strong finish to the second half of the Arizona Fall League should give him some momentum heading into 2024.

Next up is 24 year old Wes Clarke.  He had a breakout 2023 season with the Biloxi Shuckers and has continued to hit well while in Arizona.  In 13 games he has the second most home runs in the league with four, is leading the league in RBI with 16, and his 1.067 OPS is sixth best.

As a little bit of a late bloomer Wes Clarke has made himself known as a power hitter who also draws a lot of walks.  He drew 89 walks in Double-A this year and finished with an on-base percentage of .392.  His 29/% strikeout rate in 2023 was a bit concerning, but so far he is holding his ground in Arizona against some of the game’s best prospects.
