The Green Bay Packers have been actively talked about as a possible buyer at this year’s trade deadline. Those talks continue to grow as the trade deadline approaches.
One position the Packers haven’t seen much consistent success at is tight end. Since Jermichael Finley left the team nearly a decade ago, the Packers have struggled to maintain a consistent receiving AND blocking threat at TE. One trade the Packers have been mentioned in could fix that for the immediate future.
The Green Bay Packers Have Been Linked In Trade Talks To Tight End Zach Ertz

Three years after reportedly inquiring about Ertz when the former Pro Bowler played for the Eagles, Green Bay has a need for an experienced safety valve in an erratic passing game featuring young QB Jordan Love. Ertz, meanwhile, would probably welcome another move while playing in rotation with younger counterpart Tre McBride on a rebuilding Arizona squad.

It would be fairly shocking to see the Packers trade for a 32-year-old tight end, however, for a sixth-round pick? It could be a low risk high reward type of situation.
The Packers are rolling with rookies Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft as their primary tight ends this season. While the team is excited about their future in this league, neither one is a proven veteran (obviously). Bringing in a polished veteran could not only help the offense this year, but help the development of two young tight ends.
A midseason trade brought Ertz to Arizona two years ago, but Packers fans may be more familiar with him from his time with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013 to 2021. His career has spanned more than a decade and he has racked up 7,415 yards and 46 touchdowns.
