Damian Lillard On Brink of Remarkable Milestones In Milwaukee Bucks Debut Season

Damian Lillard is one of the best to ever do it. The Milwaukee Bucks are well aware of this fact, which is why they were more than willing to give up what they did in order to recruit the seven-time All-Star to their squad.

Heading into his first season with the Bucks, Dame has an opportunity to further build on his legacy in the NBA with a couple of milestones on the horizon.

In 11 memorable seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard amassed 19,376 points. That’s now just 624 points shy of Dame entering the 20,000-point club — an achievement he should be able to achieve before the halfway point of the upcoming season. That is of course, under the assumption that he is able to stay healthy throughout the course of the campaign.

Lillard is on track to becoming just the 51st player in NBA history to reach the 20,000-point mark, which just goes to show how Dame has established himself as one of the most elite scorers to ever play the game.

The new Bucks superstar is also projected to become the No. 41 all-time leading scorer in the NBA this season. So long as he scores at least 1,566 points this term (he’s averaged 1,761 points per year with the Blazers), Lillard will be able to surpass the likes of Tony Parker, Dwight Howard, LaMarcus Aldridge, and David Robinson, to name a few, on the all-time scoring list.

Lillard is widely considered one of the deadliest three-point specialists in the game today. In fact, more than a few folks out there will argue that he’s the best outside scorer in the league right now who’s not named Stephen Curry.

A testament to this fact is how Dame, who currently has 2,397 triples to his name, can climb to the No. 4 spot this season in terms of career three-pointers. At the moment, he is sixth overall but is just 64 triples behind Kyle Korver (No. 5) and 173 away from Reggie Miller (No. 4). For context, Lillard drained 244 treys last season in just 58 games.

While he won’t be able to do it this season, Lillard is actually on track to surpassing Ray Allen for the No. 2 spot on the all-time three-point list. He is currently just 577 triples away from Allen’s record.

There’s just no catching Steph, though, who is currently at 3,390 — and counting.
