Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Makes His True Feelings Towards the Organization Known Ahead of Week 5 Matchup

The Green Bay Packers will face the Las Vegas Raiders in their Week Five matchup on Monday Night. Not only does this game present the Packers with an opportunity to get back over .500 before heading into the Bye Week, it also pits them against their former star wide receiver, Davante Adams.

Adams, of course, was traded by the Packers after informing the team he would not play the 2022 season under the franchise tag, which they had placed on him. It was the first time Green Bay had assigned their franchise tag to any player since Ryan Pickett in 2010.

Green Bay ended up trading Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. They turned these picks into Quay Walker and Christian Watson, two of their most exciting players this year.

After the trade, Adams revealed that he felt that the Packers low-balled him in early contract extension talks. Their doing so, along with the uncertain future of Aaron Rodgers with team and his desire to play closer to his family, led him to request a trade away from the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

On Thursday, Adams met with the media and revealed how he feels about the Packers organization now that he has been gone for over a year.

Heading into this last season with Green Bay, Adams and Rodgers had fun trolling fans and the media by posting the same “The Last Dance” picture on their social media pages. This instance, as well as the rumors and comments made leading up to and after Adams’ trade to the Raiders led many to believe that things had gone south between the All-Pro wide receiver and the organization.

Adams, however, dispelled those rumors when he addressed the media on Thursday:

“Wasn’t some big crazy breakup that people thought it was. Obviously it felt like it just because everything seemed good a week ago and then I was gone. There’s a lot of mutual love and respect between the Packers and I.”

Adams went on to say that he still chats with members of the Packers’ front office during the offseason, and check in several times with Matt LaFleur to see how he was doing.

While fans were disappointed to see Adams leave the team, it certainly seems like it was not personal on his end.

On of the most-anticipated matchups in the NFL this season is supposed to be Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander covering Adams during their Week Five game. However, fans may be robbed of this matchup because of injuries.

Alexander missed the Packers’ Week Four loss to the Detroit Lions due to a back injury. He has, though, returned to practice and should be good to go on Monday night.

Adams injured his shoulder in the Raiders’ Week Four loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. While he returned to the game after the injury, he did not practice on Thursday. There is concern that he will not be able to go on Monday night.
