Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Fantasy Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 4

The Detroit Lions clash with the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North showdown. Both teams are 2-1 and looking to be first in the division. Jared Goff and the Lions have played well, while the Packers have been plagued with injuries.

In a game where the stakes are high, who are some players that we are targeting in our DFS lineups? Let’s dive in and break things down.

Start ‘Em: Jared Goff

Goff is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league. This season, he has thrown for 819 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has a QBR of 101.6 and has a plethora of weapons at his disposal. I see Goff having a fairly decent game in this one, but the Packers’ secondary will not just lay down. I see Goff throwing for over 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns in this one.

Start ‘Em: Amon-Ra St. Brown

Amon-Ra has put up back-to-back games with over 100 yards receiving and is clearly Goff’s favorite target. Last week against the Falcons, he secured nine receptions for 102 yards but failed to reach the endzone. I see St. Brown finishing with over 100 yards receiving for a third game in a row and having a touchdown in this one. Stacking Goff with St. Brown will be expensive but should pay dividends in the end.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown makes a catch and then fumbles against Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Brown on the final play of the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

Start ‘Em: Sam LaPorta

Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta is starting to build a solid rapport with Jared Goff. Through his first three FNL starts, he has recorded 18 receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown. This past week against the Falcons, he secured eight receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. Look for LaPorta to build on that performance and the coaching to rely more heavily on him due to him being a mismatch for most defenses. I like LaPorta to put up a double-digit fantasy outing.

Start ‘Em: Jahmyr Gibbs

Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been off to a slow start to start his NFL career. After garnering the praises of coach Dan Campbell, you would have thought he was going to be more involved in the offense than he has been thus far. He has carried the ball 31 times for 139 yards. Against Atlanta, he rushed 17 times for 80 yards but did not find the endzone. The Packers’ run defense has struggled this year, and I see Gibbs rushing for over 100 yards and finding the endzone in this one.

Sit ‘Em: Lions DST

This Packers offense will have some of their key playmakers returning, and with Love at the helm, he will have a good game. The Lions’ secondary does not have the talent to shut down this young receiving corps. While Detroit’s defensive line has been good, they are outmatched in this one, facing one of the best offensive lines in the league.

Green Bay Packers

Start ‘Em: Jordan Love

Jordan Love has been solid since taking over for Aaron Rodgers, especially considering all the injuries to his offensive weapons. While he only has a 53.1% completion rate, the more important stat to know is he has thrown seven touchdowns and only one interception. Love has thrown for 655 yards this season and has a QBR of 94.7.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) celebrates following a missed field goal by New Orleans Saints placekicker Blake Grupe (19) during their football game Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Packers defeated the Saints 18-17.

According to multiple reports, he will have Christian Watson and Aaron Jones back for the showdown against the boys from Motown. Look for Jordan Love to come out firing and amass over 250 passing yards and at least two touchdowns.

Start ‘Em: Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones has sat out the last two weeks with a hamstring, and if he is active for this one, he is a lock. Jones is a receiving back that Jordan Love utilizes as a security blanket. His volume of usage alone makes him worth a roster spot. Look for Jones to put the team on his back as he did in week one and have a big night. Again, if he does play, he is a lock to score 15 or more fantasy points.

Start ‘Em: Christian Watson

Christian Watson, like Aaron Jones, is rumored to be returning this week from a hamstring injury. If he is a full go against Detroit, look for the Packers to get him involved early and often. Watson is the WR1 in Green Bay, and you better believe Love will utilize him enough to make him worth a start.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) extends to catch a pass as Cincinnati Bengals cornerback DJ Turner II (20) defends In the first quarter during a Week 1 NFL preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and the Cincinnati Bengals, Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Sit ‘Em: Jayden Reed

With Watson rumored to be returning from injury, rookie Jayden Reed will see his playing time reduced. He will receive a few looks, but nothing worth wasting a roster spot on. He has been productive with Watson out, but he won’t unseat him as the WR1.
