Green Bay Packers: NFC Scouts Compares Jordan Love to Aaron Rodgers, Thinks Packers May Have “Done it Again”

With the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected quarterback Jordan Love out of Utah State. A questionable first-round pick, as they had one of the best quarterbacks of all time on their roster, did not exactly sit well with Packers fans. Fast-forward three years, and Love is now the starting quarterback for Green Bay. Through his first three starts of the season, drafting Love back in 2020 is turning out to be an amazing draft pick. Even an NFC scout is getting flashbacks to watching Aaron Rodgers in his rookie year.

NFC Scout Thinks the Packers May Have “Done It Again” With Jordan Love

Green Bay drafted Rodgers back in 2005 to be Brett Favre’s replacement. Fortunately for the Packers, they went from one franchise quarterback to another. Along with Favre, Rodgers is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time. According to MJ Hurley, based on the small sample size we’ve seen, an NFC scout is already worried the Packers “did it again” with Love.

“Watching Jordan Love is like watching Rodgers at the beginning of his career. He makes some of these throws, and you can’t help but think, “Did they do it again?”.

While Love’s accuracy hasn’t been his strong suit, this is due to his average target distance. He’s made some very nice deep throws that were awful drops by his receiver. Some of the completions he’s made have also been stellar. He definitely has to work on his completion percentage, but with the success he’s had thus far, there isn’t much concern.

How Does Love First Three Games Compare to Rodgers’?

In 2005, Rodgers won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after an impressive rookie season. Through his first three games, he passed for 796 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. It was an impressive and efficient start to his career. Love’s start, on the other hand, wasn’t as efficient but just as impressive. Though he’s passed for just 655 yards, he’s second in the NFL in passing touchdowns with seven. He’s also thrown just one interception, making his start even more impressive.

While it’s important to look at the beginning of their careers, it should also be noted that Love is off to a much better start than Rodgers was last year. Through three weeks last season, Rodgers passed for just 684 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Based on stats alone, it’s clear Love has done a much better job of setting the Packers up for success thus far. While they had the same record, the 2023 Packers should have a much better chance at making the playoffs this year if Love keeps up this level of play.
