The Green Bay Packers are prepping for their matchup vs. the New Orleans Saints. With a back injury that developed late in the week, Jaire Alexander is questionable for Sunday’s game. On Friday, Alexander was added to the injury report after practicing in full capacity on Wednesday and Thursday.
There is no word on Alexander’s availability for Week Three and the move the Packers just made doesn’t automatically rule him out.
The Green Bay Packers Elevate CB Corey Ballentine To Active Roster Ahead Of Matchup Vs. The New Orleans Saints
The Green Bay Packers have elevated cornerback Corey Ballentine from the practice squad ahead of their Week 3 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
A void left on special teams from the absence of Anderson and perhaps Gaines can be filled by Ballentine. According to PFF, Ballentine ranked tied for sixth in tackles during the second half of last season, despite playing 18th most snaps on the team. Also during the summer, he was a starter on several different units.
With the second-team defense, Ballentine was one of two boundary cornerback options when healthy throughout training camp. In the absence of Eric Stokes, Ballentine was the fifth cornerback option this summer, behind Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Keisean Nixon, and Carrington Valentine.
Alexander was listed as a limited participant on Friday, as previously mentioned. As a result of his back injury, he has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
“His back was acting up a little bit, so we’ll monitor that and we’ll see where he’s at,” head coach Matt LaFleur said, via the team’s website.
