Milwaukee Bucks: Alex Caruso Trade from the Chicago Bulls?

The Milwaukee Bucks lack a backup point Guard, and Alex Caruso is the latest name to pop up in trade rumors. Caruso played for the Chicago Bulls a season ago, and Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed another trade. Milwaukee would acquire Alex Caruso for Grayson Allen, MarJon Beauchamp, and a 2029 first-round pick.

Alex Caruso is a role player and would be a perfect backup point guard for Jrue Holiday. However, doesn’t that seem like a lot for a role player? Allen is a free agent after this season, but that wouldn’t be so terrible. Beauchamp has potential and could maybe crack the rotation this season. Yes, the first-round pick isn’t until the 2029 NBA Draft, but it is still a first-round pick.

A season ago, Caruso averaged 5.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 2.9 APG, and shot 45.5% from the field. He would be a perfect rotational piece for this basketball team. Caruso is 21 years old and won an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2019-2020 season in the bubble. He played a huge role on that basketball team and is no stranger to big games in the postseason.

Buckley said about this trade:

“Doing nothing hardly feels like a solution, so the Bucks moght have to cobble together what they can to add another win-now piece to the puzzle. Caruso isn’t a star, but he is a high-level role player who can impact the game in a lot of different ways-almost all of which improves his club’s chances of winning.”

Alex Caruso on the Milwaukee Bucks Would Improve the Bench Rotation

Even if the Bucks trade Allen, the starting lineup would be just fine. The more important thing for Milwaukee heading into this season is the bench. If  Jrue Holiday ever goes down with an injury this season for this basketball team, they will be in trouble at the point guard position, and general manager Jon Horst is currently playing with fire with about a month to go until the NBA regular season begins.

It is possible that the Milwaukee Bucks can still find their backup point guard from within, but it remains to be seen. Buckley also said:

“Caruso could give this group a similar lift to what it once received from Donte DiVincenzo, who posted a plus-4.5 net differential across his three full seasons in Milwaukee.”

Malik Beasley could be one of the backup point guards, but he is mainly a shooting guard. TyTy Washington Jr. could be a player to watch for this preseason for Milwaukee if they don’t make a trade for a backup point guard for Jrue Holiday.

Alex Caruso would be a solid addition to this basketball team, but they shouldn’t give up that much for him. Caruso can give them valuable minutes off the bench, also.
