Green Bay Packers Named In Massive Trade For Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs (Proposal)

The Green Bay Packers were named as contenders to land star Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs this season in a trade proposal from an NFL writer. The Bills and Diggs have had a tumultuous offseason, which caused trade rumors About Diggs to float this summer. At one point, Diggs was asked to leave an OTA practice early by a coach.

Diggs and Bills seem to be on the same page since training camp started. However, not every NFL pundit is sold on the Bills this season. A few even think quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills could regress in 2023.

There’s no way Diggs is happy in Buffalo if the Bills have a subpar campaign.

Peter Bukowski with Locked On Packers thinks Diggs could end up with the Packers if Jordan Love and the young roster can get off to a fast start in Green Bay this season.

“Von Miller is going to miss the first four weeks of the season, at least”, Bukowski said. “[The AFC East] is a meat-grinder of a division and [Bills head coach] Sean McDermott is not that far removed from saying he was very concerned that Stefon Diggs was not participating in camp. What if that goes sideways, and you have the chance to get Stefon Diggs for a first-round pick?”

Would the Green Bay Packers trade for Stefon Diggs?

Bills receiver Stefon Diggs celebrates after his 49-yard pass for a touchdown in a 35-23 win over the Patriots.

The Packers will have 11 draft picks in 2024. That means they can maneuver during the season to add a veteran pass catcher like Diggs if the team has a chance to contend for the NFC North near the trade deadline. Would they trade for a “diva” initially drafted by the Packers’ rival, the Minnesota Vikings?

The Packers could offer the Bills around what they’d give the Indianapolis Colts for Jonathan Taylor. Diggs is older, but he’s elite at one of the most valuable positions in the NFL. Taylor is talented and young, but the Packers would have to give a running back money in an NFL economy that’s not friendly towards the position right now.

I don’t see the Packers’ front office going for Diggs. Diggs might not fit in the young locker room like another veteran who didn’t scream at Allen during a playoff game would. A first or second-round pick for Diggs is too risky for a player who might only last a season with the Packers.
