Green Bay Packers: Five players who should be inducted in the team’s Hall-of-Fame.

The Green Bay Packers inducted All-Pros Josh Sitton and Jordy Nelson into the team’s Hall-of-Fame on Thursday night.

The team started the process of selecting Hall-of-Famers in 1970 with the team inducting players who played for famed head coach and founder of the Packers Curly Lambeau

Since then, there have been 168 players enshrined in the Green Bay Packers Hall-of-Fame including the inductions of Sitton and Nelson on Thursday night. This begs the question Who should be the following players enshrined in the team’s Hall-of-Fame?

Since 2017, the team has selected two Hall-of-Famers each year with the exception being in 2019 where former General Manager Ted Thompson was the only selected that year.

5- Bryan Bulaga

First and foremost, Bryan Bulaga’s SNF intro is already HOF-worthy.

The Green Bay Packers selected Bulaga in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He started the season as a backup to veteran RT Mark Tauscher before making his first start in Week 5 after Tauscher went down with a season-ending shoulder injury.

Bulaga across nine seasons for the Packers, started 111 games and helped solidify the right side of the offensive line for future Hall-of-Fame QB Aaron Rodgers.

According to PFF, Bulaga had consistently rated as one of the 10-best right tackles in the game.

Outside of missing the entire 2013 season and most of the 2017 season, Bulaga was a durable player during his time in Green Bay and was a part of one of the best offensive lines in the team’s history.

His career in Green Bay Packers alone, and his presence on the right side of the offensive line should warrant him a selection in the team’s Hall-of-Fame.

4- Tramon Williams

How can anyone forget how crucial Tramon Williams was in the team’s Super Bowl run in the 2010-11 season?

His game-sealing interception against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Game sent the team to Atlanta to play the top-seeded Atlanta Falcons. Williams would be back for more as he picked off Matt Ryan twice including a 70-year interception return before the half.

In eight seasons with the team, Williams had 34 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, and two touchdowns.

Tramon Williams spent his whole football career overlooked. He went undrafted in 2006, he started off his career in Green Bay being stuck behind prominent players on the roster namely Al Harris and Charles Woodson. Williams eventually worked his way up to be a No. 1 corner on the roster and never looked back.

His 30 interceptions rank 9th on the team’s all-time list, but even more than that, his heroics in 2011 helped create of lifetime of memories for the Green Bay Packers and their fans.

3- Scott Wells

Wells is one of the most underrated players in Green Bay Packers history.

Wells started all 16 games in three of his seven seasons in Green Bay. With center being the second-most important position in football, that durability is rare to find.

Wells on his resume also snapped to two Hall-of-Fame players going from Brett Favre to the start of Aaron Rodgers’ career. nobody had a bigger impact in the middle of the offensive line than Wells.

Wells started 100 games at center for the Packers and helped the team secure a Super Bowl victory in 2011.

Wells throughout his career was underrated; particularly on his own team but it’s time to honor Scott Wells by officially inducting him into the Green Bay Packers Hall-of-Fame.

2- T.J. Lang

With left guard Josh Sitton being inducted on Thursday is it time for a guy who was important on the right side to be inducted?

The short answer is yes. You cannot tell the story of the offensive line in the early years of Aaron Rodgers without three guys: T.J. Lang, Josh Sitton, and Scott Wells. With Sitton being inducted, and Wells hopefully being inducted it’s time to honor T.J. Lang.

Lang in seven seasons for the Packers, started 94 games for the team where he was known as one of the top guards in football and helped solidify the right side of the line for Green Bay.

What makes those linemen in the early Aaron Rodgers years great is that those guys were durable and even after the veterans on the team left, the team kept drafting and developing All-Pros and Pro-Bowlers. Lang is a part of that group as he went to the Pro Bowl twice (2016, 2017).

Lang’s career in Green Bay should be enough to honor him with the prestigious honor of being in the Green Bay Packers Hall-of-Fame.

1- Clay Matthews

This should be the one player who occupies the top spot.

Matthews during his career in Green Bay, was one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL and holds the record with all-time sacks in team history with 83.5, and holds the franchise record with most sacks in the postseason with 11.0

Stats don’t tell the whole story let’s talk about the impact Clay Matthews had on the Packers. Green Bay before Matthews was drafted in 2009 out of USC, hadn’t had a game-changing player rushing the passer since Reggie White. Matthews made an immediate impact in his rookie year, as he helped the Packers become a top-five defense, and it was the only time that Green Bay was both top-10 in both offense and defense.

That doesn’t happen without drafting Clay Matthews, and his going on to have a stellar career in Green Bay earns him automatic candidacy in the Green Bay Packers Hall-of-Fame.
