GAME STORY: Whitnall Falcons vs Greenfield Hawks Varsity Football (August 31st, 2023)

Tonight was the beginning of conference play in the State of Wisconsin, and we saw a Woodland Conference matchup tonight at Greenfield High School, between the Whitnall Falcons and the Greenfield Hustlin Hawks. I like to call it the battle of the City of Greenfield since both schools consist of Greenfield mailing addresses. When both schools play each other whether it’s in Football or Boys Basketball it always seems to draw a big crowd on both sides, and there wasn’t a lot of room tonight in the bleachers looking up as a lot of people came out for this beautiful Thursday Evening of Football. One thing unique about both school districts is they seem to be very close on the School Calendar side of things because tomorrow is the First Day of School for both the School District of Greenfield and the Whitnall School District, and I will say this lots of students still came out and cheered loud for there teams knowing that summer was going to be over in a few hours. Below you will see we caught lots of excellent game footage.
Game Recap: 
Greenfield had quite a running day on the offensive side of the ball as we saw RB David Fischer have four touchdowns this evening, he scored the first Touchdown to give the Hawks the early 7-0 lead. But then after with 5:16 remaining in the 1st Quarter Jayveon Gold of Whitnall gets a fumble recovery touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 for Whitnall. Then we headed to just over two minutes remaining in the 2nd Quarter we saw a special connection of QB Jayden Valdez to WR Jaydin Redding to deliver Greenfield back the lead with 2:29 remaining in the 2nd Quarter. Whitnall wastes no time with the Football and finds Tommy Teixeria to tie the game at 14-14 for the Falcons. But at the beginning of the 3rd Quarter is where disaster strikes for the Falcons on the opening kickoff as they fumble the football and give it back to Greenfield, seconds later we see David Fischer again run in for his second Touchdown of the day to give the Hawks the 20-14 advantage, Greenfield would miss the extra point. Later in the 3rd Quarter, the next scoring play comes again from David Fischer to extend the Hawks lead 26-14 with 5:05 remaining, Greenfield would try for two but came up unsuccessful. The next scoring play would come in the 4th quarter and would come from Whitnall where Tanner Effertz found Riley Frank for the Touchdown with 11:49 remaining in the 4th Quarter, as Whitnall still trailed 26-21. Greenfield came right back with 10:17 remaining in the game and that is when we saw Niko Vega circle on the jets and score his first Touchdown of the evening to give the Hawks the 32-21 lead, how about two in a row well Niko Vega did just that with 8:04 remaining in the game he scored another touchdown to open Greenfield’s lead 39-21. Minutes later, Whitnall heads back down field and we see Jayveon Gold score his second touchdown of the night to cut the game to 39-28 as Greenfield is still leading with 6:01 left in the game. RB David Fischer says how about just one more as he maneuvers in the final touchdown of the game to give the Hawks the 46-28 lead over the Whitnall Falcons with 4:06 remaining in the game, and that is how the game ended up finishing. Greenfield comes out on top 46-28 tonight in this rivarly game.
