The Chicago Bears will face off against the Green Bay Packers in just 11 short days. This could be the start of a new era for both organizations. Both Fields and Love are 24 years old and were handed the keys to their franchise this off-season.
Love was named the starter after the Packers traded away Aaron Rodgers. Fields knew the Bears were committing to him the moment they traded away the number one overall draft pick. Now the two will have an opportunity to start this new rivalry off on the right note. However, the Bears will likely have to do so without one of their offensive stars.
Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus Says Star Offensive Lineman Teven Jenkins The “Lone Starter” Not On Track to Play Vs The Green Bay Packers
Injuries to key starters have plagued the Chicago Bears throughout the summer, causing concern about their Week 1 status.
At his press conference on Tuesday, head coach Matt Eberflus was pleased to announce that he expects all starters, with the exception of one, are expected to be healthy enough to play in the season opener against the Packers.
The one exception is left guard Teven Jenkins as he is officially listed as “week-to-week” due to an apparent leg injury which he suffered this off-season. Not only is Jenkins not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, he could even miss the first month of the season.
As far as the Green Bay Packers are concerned, they have Lukas Van Ness, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Kingsley Enagbare, and Devonte Wyatt on their roster as their potential rotation. There is no doubt that any offensive line would be intimidated by that defensive line, let alone one without their most valuable player.
As the Packers get set to play the Bears on September 10th, the defensive line has to be excited about the opportunity they will have to get pressure on the quarterback.
