The Green Bay Packers’ defense will make or break them in 2023, but will they be stout or not? We have already graded out the Packers’ offense, and now we will dive into the defense and break things down. Defensive coordinator Joe Barry has a lot of expectations this year, considering he has first-round talent at every level.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Breakdown
It all starts up front, and this defensive line is stacked. Defensive End Kenny Clark is a perennial pro bowler, T.J. Slayton is a beast of a man who will operate from the nose tackle position, and rounding out things is Devonte Wyatt, who is poised to have a breakout year. Their depth on the D-line is remarkable, and they should improve on last year’s performance. Keep an eye on Karl Brooks, Colby Wooden, and Jonathan Ford. I love how this line looks, and if they can stay healthy, they will be one of the best in the league.
Defensive Line Grade: A
The Packers are loaded at the linebacker position that features Preston Smith, De’Vondre Campbell, Quay Walker, and Rashan Gary. This is a powerful group that has the speed to cover sideline to sideline. Eric Wilson, Isaiah McDuffie, Justin Hollins, and rookie Lukas Van Ness will provide reinforcements off the bench, and this linebacker corps, like the defensive line, is loaded with talent. Don’t sleep on this group in 2023; they will be scary good.
Linebacker Grade: A-
The defensive backfield starts with one of the best corners in the game, Jaire Alexander. He is a shutdown cornerback that can neutralize the league’s top receivers. On the other side of the field, Rasul Douglas will look to build on back-to-back dominant seasons in which he collected nine interceptions combined. Keisean Nixon, Darnell Savage, and Rudy Ford round out things. The depth at the corner and safety is a little light, which worries me, but if the starters stay healthy, they will have a solid year. Green Bay is known for developing players, and they will need to work with the backups for sure.

Green Bay Packers Defense Preview
Defensive coordinator Joe Barry has a defense loaded with studs and should easily be a top-10 unit in 2023. Last year, they gave up 139.5 rushing yards and 197.0 passing yards per game. They finished the season ranked 17th defensively and allowed 21.8 points per game. We will see these numbers improve with their key players healthy after injuries plagued them in 2022. If they can stay healthy, the Green Bay Packers will be a defensive juggernaut this season.
