NBA Rumors: Proposed Milwaukee Bucks Trade With Rockets

The Milwaukee Bucks pretty much have their roster set for the upcoming 2023-2024 NBA season. Milwaukee has an older basketball team, but they are projected to be one of the best teams in the league once again this season.

Speaking of projections, there was a mock trade created by FanSided’s Tyler Watts in his latest article for Behind the Buck Pass. The proposed trade features the Milwaukee Bucks getting Kevin Porter Jr. from the Houston Rockets in exchange for Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, and a 2030 first-round pick swap.

The Bucks need a shot creator in the worst way, and Porter Jr. has a ton of talent. He is only 23 years old. In the past, Porter Jr. has had some character issues, but there is no denying his talent. He would make this basketball team better. A season ago with the Houston Rockets, he played in 59 games and averaged 19.2 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 5.7 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 1.4 SPG.

Kevin Porter Jr. shot 36.6% from three and 44.2% from the field. He also shot 78.4% from the field. Porter Jr. is not an unrestricted free agent until after the 2026-2027 season.

Milwaukee Bucks Would Get the Backup Point Guard on the Roster They Need

The Milwaukee Bucks have been looking for a backup point guard all offseason long for veteran Jrue Holiday. This would be a huge deal for the Bucks because it would provide some scoring off the bench, especially when Giannis Anteotkounmpo and Khris Middleton are on the bench.

Having Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton is nice for Milwaukee, but they need some youth on this roster. Allen is 27 years old and averaged 10.4 PPG last season. Connaughton is 30 years old and averaged 7.4 PPG last season. Grayson Allen will be an unrestricted free agent after this season for the Bucks. As for Connaughton, he will have a player option on his contract for the 2025-2026 season, and if it is picked up, he will be an unrestricted free agent after that season.

The Milwaukee Bucks need to make this trade with the Houston Rockets. General manager Jon Horst needs to make this trade because it would work for both parties. Milwaukee gets younger as Houston gains veterans on its roster for a very young basketball team in rebuild mode.
